The Last Day and Three Days of Darkness
This post is to provide two unique insights, the first is in to the meaning of him raising us up on the last day. A simple search for “last day” in blue letter bible and it practically defines itself. The phrase is used exactly 8 times in the bible, one time in Nehemiah which defines the last day as the eighth day of tabernacles and 7 times in John… all referring to either the resurrection. What are the odds the phrase would only occur 8 times in the bible and in such a consistent manner?
Three Days of Darkness
There are many people that are looking for 3 days of darkness to repeat like in the story of Exodus. This is further expanded upon from Roman Catholic teachings.
While I don’t put must stock in Roman Catholic teachings, I do believe that the story of Exodus is a similitude or parable for what will happen again, but not in the same literal way.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that darkness may spread over the land of Egypt — a palpable darkness.”
22So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and total darkness covered all the land of Egypt for three days. 23No one could see anyone else, and for three days no one left his place. Yet all the Israelites had light in their dwellings.

Starting October 9th, I expect 3 years of darkness caused by nuclear winter. On the surface, revelation 11:3 appears to describe the clothing of the two witnesses, but when combined with Revelation 6:12 it is clear that the sackcloth applies to the sun or to the “days”.
And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

It is hypothesized that over 95 percent of sunlight would be blocked from entering the Earth by a nuclear winter. Without sunlight, plants cannot photosynthesize and will die.
And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

There are several ways to interpret this… one is that 33% of all light everywhere is reduced, the other is that 1/3 of the land is 70% darkened, 1/3 50% and 1/3 is 5% darkened as this model shows.
Having a darkness that is palpable indicates that it is likely induced by smog and not a supernatural dimming of every heavenly body.
