Watch with Commentary

Our culture tends to understand “counting our days” as a general reminder to make every day “count”. That our time is short. Carpe Diem. Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die! What if there is far more to this instruction and these verses than we previously realized?

Who knows the power of your anger? Even according to your fear, so is your wrath; therefore, teach us to number/count our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O YHVH, How long? Let it (turning our hearts unto wisdom by counting our days) repent (turn) you concerning your servants. (spare us your wrath) — Psalm 90:11–13

Psalm 90 is a foundational chapter in understanding prophetic timing. It tells us both that a day is as a thousand years, and it gives us the definition and timescale of the fig tree generation referred to by Yeshua.

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. You carry them away as with a flood; they are asleep. — Psalm 90

Right there where He tells us that a day is like a thousand years, he warns us that those we are asleep (not paying attention to this timing) will be carried away as with a flood!

Notice that the *reason* we ask YHVH to teach us to number and count our days is to gain wisdom! What question should we be seeking to count, “How long until your Return, O YHVH!”. What do we hope to gain by seeking this wisdom and counting our days? To spare us, his servants, from his wrath!

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat (spiritual food) in due season (the appointed time)? — Matthew 24:45

There are several things that must be pointed out. The context of this verse is Matthew 24 right after Yeshua outlines the tribulation. Meat is defined for us by Paul:

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, as unto babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you were not yet able to bear it: nay, not even now are ye able; 3 for you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you jealousy and strife, are you not carnal, and do ye not walk after the manner of men? — 1 Corinthians 3:1–3

His wise and faithful servants are expected to move beyond the milk of the basic salvation message and to give / teach His household deep spiritual food at the right time or season.

In order to be a wise and faithful servant. One of the wise virgins, we must know his times and seasons. In particular, we are expected to know the appointed time of his coming.

But… No one knows…the day or the hour

If this is the only verse you, or someone you know, knows and you quote it early and often then chances are you are not a student of scripture. You believe that you cannot know; therefore, it will be done to you according to your faith.

Then He touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith and trust and reliance [on the power invested in Me] be it done to you; — Matthew 9:29

There is a willful spiritual blindness that is according to your faith. Jeremiah 5 is a long chapter and it discusses the Day of YHVH. Consider carefully these verses.

‘Hear this now, O foolish people,
Without understanding,
Who have eyes and see not,
And who have ears and hear not:’ — Jeremiah 5:21

They have lied about the Lord,
And said, “It is not He.
Neither will evil come upon us,
Nor shall we see sword (nuke) or famine. — Jeremiah 5:12

If you have faith, pray, ask for wisdom, and have faith that He gives good gifts to those who ask, then the Holy Spirit will teach you all things.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. — John 14:26

Many quote Matthew 24:36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” and then put their Bible down and claim, “case closed”. But if you continue reading..”therefore keep watch… if the owner had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch… so you also must be ready(keeping watch), because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect. (if you are not watching)

Imagine a soldier telling his commander “I chose not to keep watch tonight because you told me that no one knows when the enemy will attack. I am ‘ready’ for an attack at any moment because I keep a gun on my nightstand”. Such a soldier, if discovered by his commander, would be punished for endangering the entire camp and failing to follow orders. Furthermore, if the enemy did come he would get the first shot thereby killing the soldier who wasn’t watching before the soldier had a chance to pull their gun!

“But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day…So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake (watching) and be sober.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:4–6

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

So there are two things we need to watch for, the master coming and the enemy (thief) attacking. How do we “watch” for the master coming? By seeking to understand his times and seasons. Do you even know what the thief is? What does he look like?

Thief in the Night

The phrase, thief in the night, is yet another Hebrew idiom! This idiom refers to a practice mentioned in Leviticus 6:8–13:

“The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar. The priest shall then put on his linen clothes, with linen undergarments next to his body, . . . The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.”

The priests assigned to constantly watch over the altar fire and over the Menorah were never to fall asleep during their night of service. In order to insure that the priest(s) stayed awake, the High Priest (or the Captain Of The Guards) would walk around the Temple looking for the priest(s). If a priest was found sleeping during a surprise visit, the High Priest (or Captain) would take hot coals from the altar fire, place some of the hot coals in a fire pan and take them over to the sleeping priest. He would then gently place the pan and hot coals under the sleeping priest’s clothing.

The priest’s linen clothing would soon be ignited in flames — clothing in those days did not have flame retardant chemicals imbedded into the cloth as do modern clothes. The guilty priest would have no choice but to leave his burning clothes and run burnt, naked, and ashamed back home. Quite a lesson not to fall asleep on the job or to be un-alert! It was this practice of surprise visits that according to Jewish tradition got the High Priest (or the Captain) nicknamed the “Thief In The Night”!

Don’t Miss the Boat!

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark (His people raptured), And (everyone else) knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Ready to Die at any Time

To counter this some might claim that they are ready to die; therefore, watching in order to prevent death by the “thief” is not required. The thinking is that, because they believe/trust in/know the Messiah, they have salvation and eternal life.

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. — 1 John 2:4

Note that we all sin and we all fail to keep his commandments in spite of our best effort. The question is whether or not we have a willful disregard for commandments such that we make excuses for not following them.

We have been commanded to watch; therefore, willful failure to keep his commandment to watch is evidence that you might not actually know Him.

This is touchy because many people are ignorant of commands or misunderstand the commands even if in their heart they desire to follow them. Others are intellectually limited and are unable to understand. Who then can be saved? With man it is impossible with YHVH all things are possible.

Never-the-less, those who do have understanding will choose to obey because they love him.

If you love me, you will obey my commandments. John 14:15

This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. — 1 John 5:1–5

“Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will (obeys commands) of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers’” (Matthew 7:21–23).

The assumption of “readiness” has a heart of pride. It presumes the finish line has been crossed and there is nothing left to do. It is best to keep your guard up and constantly look for spots in your garment so that you can keep it clean or ask Him to clean it.

It should be noted that we obey His commandments because we love him, not because by doing so we earn our salvation. Our salvation is by faith in and love of Him. Our works are merely evidence of our faith and love.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us — Hebrews 12

The finish line is just ahead, now is not the time to slow down or relax, but to double down and be bold.

None is righteous, no, not one. — Romans 3:10–12

When I shall say to the righteous (those covered by Yeshua’s blood), that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby (covered by Yeshua’s blood). — Ezekiel 33:13,19

Signs are too vague to watch

If you have only done a surface level reading you might think that the “signs” are vague, subjective, and not terribly useful for pinpointing when things might happen; however, Yeshua rebukes those who cannot interpret the signs:

“O ye hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times? — Matthew 16:3

For the days shall come upon thee, that your enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay you even with the ground, and your children with you; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because you knew not the time of your visitation. — Luke 19:43

YHVH uses the “time of your visitation” not just to refer to Yeshua’s first coming as a suffering servant, but mostly to refer to his coming judgment day.

The following verse from Jeremiah 50 talking about the fall of Babylon the Great (aka the USA and/or Nato)

Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him. — Jeremiah 50:31–32

So all who say that no one can know are in rebellion against the word of YHVH where hypocrites are rebuked for not being able to discern the signs of the times and those who “know not the time of your visitation” will burn with the rest.

When YHVH gives a prophecy he gives precise year counts 1000’s of years in advance. 70 Jubilees from the Jordan Crossing, 80 years from Israel becoming a nation, 2625 years from the first time the sacrifices were taken from the temple. 490 years from the order to rebuild until Yeshua. 60 Jubilees to a second order to rebuild. 490 years from the second order until the end. 2000 years from the cross. 1260 days of gloom. These are all precise measures of when to expect things and they all line up. 40 years until the destruction of the temple. 70 years in captivity. With a little study of history and understanding of symbology, the timing of his coming is confirmed with a multitude of witnesses.

How to Start Watching

For years I believed that YHVH wouldn’t share His secrets to me. I thought I had read the Bible many times and there was nothing more I could get out of it. I was blind because I lacked the faith that He would actually reveal anything to me. Once I realized I held that false belief deep down I was able to rebuke it, pray, and ask in faith that he would reveal His truth to me. That is when it started.

I grew up in a traditional Christian home, then spent almost 14 years exploring atheism, new age, and human solutions for the corruption in our world. Right around my 40th birthday, He woke me up to the reality of His existence and the historical truth of the Flood, the Exodus, and Sodom. Just two years later He has started using me in ways I never would have imagined. I am convinced that it was my prayer in faith that opened my eyes and I praise Him daily for revealing things.

By knowing the hour of His visitation it produces the necessary urgency and priority in our lives.

I then started searching, and reading, and studying. Faith without works is dead, so it isn’t enough to just pray for understanding you must also back it up with time spent studying. Thankfully, there are many who have gone before you and can give you a head start.

I have published many videos with my research and it shows we don’t have much time. If my calculations are correct, then Fall 2024, less than 6 months from now, everything will begin with sudden destruction!

Every day I try to put what I learn into videos. So subscribe and you can learn along with me.
