75 Pound Hail Stones of Revelation Explained without Supernatural Cause

If you have been following my channel, then you know that I believe that Revelation is describing a Nuclear war that destroys Babylon the Great in a single hour and burns 1/3 of the earth. The Bible makes it very clear that this will be brought about by 10 kings coming from the north, a great army such as never been and never will be again even with many generations.

With that context everything in Revelation made sense as the result of God putting it on the hearts of the kings to execute His judgment. That said, there is one element of Revelation that has remained entirely “supernatural” in its explanation until now: the 75 Pound Hail.

And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake (nukes), such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great. — Revelation 16:21

This verse is describing the fall of Babylon is clearly in the context of Nuclear war, but what are we to make of the hail? Is this a super natural hail?

I previously speculated that the talent-sized-hail was referring to the weight of the Uranium as described in Zechariah 5

And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead (uranium): and this is a fire offering to be burnt entirely that sits in the midst of the ephah (6 gallon payload). — Zech 5:7

Given the parallel in weight and that both fall from the sky, this was my working assumption. But what if there will be literal 75 pound balls of ice falling from the sky? Would that be supernatural, or is their a natural explanation?

Exodus has previously described fire mixed with hail:

There was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy hail, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation… Exodus 9:24 — what are the odds it was verse 24 for 2024?

Now therefore send, get your livestock and all that you have in the field into safe shelter, for every man and beast that is in the field and is not brought home will die when the hail falls on them.”’” Then whoever feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh hurried his slaves and his livestock into the houses, but whoever did not pay attention to the word of the LORD left his slaves and his livestock in the field. — 9:19

Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, was there no hail.

The meaning of Goshen is: a land or place of plenty and comfort. This could clearly be a typology of the rapture where we are taking to a land of plenty. Notice that right before Revelation 16 describes the hail it mentions the following :

“And every island fled away”

I thought the visual if Islands flying away was odd and concluded it must be symbolic, so I did an entire study on this:

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up (rapture); and he shall save the humble person.

He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. — Job 22:29–30

Then the story of Paul’s shipwreck on an Island is all about Rapture typology:

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda (enclosure, safe haven), we had much work to come by the boat:

And sounded, and found it 20 fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it 15 fathoms.Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island. — Acts 27:25–26

Strong’s Concordance (2015), epiphánei, “an epiphany”, a means appearing, manifestation, glorious display, in the NT, 2015 (epipháneia) occurs six times, always used of Christ’s coming.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita (honey-sweet; calm).

And we were in all in the ship 276 (immutable) souls. — Acts 27:37

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed: — Acts 28:9

Largest Hail on Record

Officially, the largest diameter hailstone known, measuring 7.87 in (20.0 cm) in diameter and weighing 1.9375 lb (0.88 kg), fell on Vivian South Dakota during an exceptional hailstorm, but there have been unconfirmed reports of hail up to 9" in diameter.

Revelation’s hailstones are over 30 times heavier, and if my calculations are correct they would have a diameter of 16–18".

Here is a reference for the frequency of various hail sizes… and if you were to scale it up to the weight described in Revelation, you would have a beach ball.

16" Beach Ball sized Hail

It would take quite a storm to produce hail that strong. Tornado’s can easily pick up 75 pound balls, but what kind of updraft would be required to enable ice balls the size of a beach ball?

Based upon the surface area of a circle with the radius of a beach ball, I calculate it would take an updraft of 150 miles per hour to offset gravity and keep the ball afloat.

This is an explanation of a traditional thunderstorm that can produce hail. The size of the hail depends upon the speed of the warm updraft combined with moisture in the air. Anything that produces a warm updraft can produce hail, for example volcanoes.

Volcanic Eruptions Produce Hail Mixed with Ash

Forest Fires produce hail mixed with fire!

Forest Fire Produces Hail

Notice the temperature graph to the right, it shows how even though it is very hot on the ground, by the time the cloud reaches the upper atmosphere there is not much temperature difference and it is still well below freezing.

Here is an Example of a Tornado

Tornadoes can lift people and cars into the air, so they can surely lift a 75 pound beach ball sized hail.

Forest fires can produce “fire tornadoes”

Now compare these thunderstorms and forest fires that produce hail and torenadoes, to the updraft of a Nuke:

Nuke vs Thunder Storm Updraft

Now imagine thousands of nukes going off at once to burn 1/3 of the earth.

It is easy to see how this might create powerful updrafts able to sustain 75 pound, beach-ball-sized hail. In many historic tests, the nukes were detonated in dry deserts or out in the ocean. People were kept far away and any hail formed would have dropped in the ocean and there would be little long-lasting fire on the ground to sustain the updraft.

Ice caps / crystals on top of Nuke
Ice Caps on top of Volcano Explosion

They are formed by strong updraft at lower altitudes, acting upon moist air above, causing the air to cool to its dew point as it rises.[3][4] As such, they are usually indicators of severe weather, and a pileus found atop a cumulus cloud often foreshadows transformation into a cumulonimbus cloud, as it indicates a strong updraft within the cloud.[3][5]

Pilei can also form above mountains, ash clouds, and pyrocumulus clouds from erupting volcanoes.[6] Pilei form above some mushroom clouds of high-yield nuclear detonations.[7]

Conclusion

There could be an entirely natural explanation for how 75 pound hail can fall in the midst of a full scale Nuclear war. The anti-christ would have no problem explaining the judgment of God as nothing more than the act of men and natural outcome of physics. Anyone looking for a super-natural destruction will likely not recognizing the coming war as God’s judgment spoken of in Revelation. This is why it is important to know the timing, because the timing is the clear identifier.
